The second topic I will be blogging about is Vlogging. Vlogging is just like blogging but with video. When a vlog comes to mind I think of Rosie O'Donnell since she has a blog that she vlogs on. I never really go to that site but I will say when I was on maternity leave 6 years ago and she was raving about Mac computers and making iMovies of her family I was inspired to get Macs for my library. The a few years later we were given the Manhattan Borough Grant to do over the library. You could spend the money on anything but books so my inspiration became a reality. I know have a cart of 15 iMacs. I also ordered 28 emacs to build a technology lab for our students.
On my quest to search vlogs I came across this vlog about the iphone on this site http://www.webpronews.com/ I love the way they have vlogs on their site.
In this article I found this quote"Vlogging gives average citizens an audience and a chance to make their voices heard." However I believe that there is use for vlogs in the educational community. My quest is to now search for that perfect educational vlog and when I come across it I will let you all know.
As for now I must go and search and who knows during the next six weeks I will attempt to create a vlog that I can post on my blog. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger. Here is looking forward to the journey of vlogging.

Hi Robin, I'm a big fan of your quote (things make us stronger).
It seems as though everday there is a new bunch of terms that I'd never heard of, like "vlogging". How can we keep up? Another quote comes to mind for me, "The more we learn, the more we realize how much we don't know."
Vlogging seems like a great way for students to express themselves (if used properly). On the flip side, they need a strong foundation on what a credible resource is, more than ever. People are likely to believe what they see even faster than what they read.

Hi Stacy,
I love your qoute too. I didn't realize how much more I had to learn in regard to technology and our students. I wish I had the time and flexiblity in my work schedule to intergrate these wonderful applications in a timely fashion. That will be a goal for me next year.
I work hard with my students about not believing all that they see. Credible sources is something I teach about in the library. Have you checked out this website
http://snopes.com
It tells what is true or false about certain stories and Urban Legends, needless to say my students love this site.
I just clicked on the story of what happpened to the signers of the Declaration of Independence and I use to always read in the Dear Abby column about the price they paid

Interesting read if you have the time.
Ok , so Vlogging is just like blogging. I visited Rosie's site but wasn't able to get the video going, but I could hear her voice.
I think this is another great resource for us to learn more about.
I am wondering if its difficult to put together though , and will it work with Windows?
Hi Gloria,
I think Rosie's vlogs use the Quicktime format so all it is a simple download of that program for you to access her video
Good questions you asked. I am going to answer them in my next post. When I do my vlog I will try to do it on both my apple and pc computers so this way I will know how to do the vlog on both computers. Nothing like extra work but I think it is important to be crossplatform.
Robin
Vlogging is great, instead of typing you just have you and a camera and speak your mind. I like what Stacy said, "People are likely to believe what they see even faster than what they read." It might also help people remember what was said and make a lasting impression.
Creating a vlog will be an interesting venture. I also agree with learning how to do thing on both platforms, it might be more work, but it's worthwhile.
When I have time... that's funny! This summer I'm taking 12 credits and summer field work. I have to leave classes early to catch planes to and from Syracuse.
But serioulsy, the vlogging is amazing. I will make it a point to check out your suggested website one day.
